The Solheim Cup is one of the most important women’s golf events worldwide, bringing together the best golfers from around the globe and considered one of the best events in the golf and has been held every two years since 1990. It is a team competition organised by the European Ladies Professional Golf Association (LET) and the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) of the United States.
The competition brings together the best female players from both continents, who compete in a format similar to the Ryder Cup and takes place over three days in which twenty-eight matches take place: eight foursomes, eight fourballs and twelve singles (The last day).
This 2023, for the first time in history, Spain will host this prestigious sporting event. Finca Cortesin is the course that will have the honour of hosting this competition from the 18th to the 24th of September. The training days will be from the 19th to the 21st, and the event will be from the 22nd to the 24th.
The importance of women’s professional golf and its growth has been increasingly evident in recent years thanks, in part, to events such as the Solheim Cup. It’s an opportunity for women’s golf to showcase their talent and skills on a high level stage, while promoting the popularity of the sport among women.
